What did I do this week?  I say out loud as I try and remember.

Week 5 or 6 update…not that anyone is counting.

This week I got a lot of writing done towards the beginning of the week; I got about twenty pages down – which has been sort of my minimum goal each week.  That amounted to about an issue and a half of Away Team.  I think this new endeavor is helping me a lot with character development and dialogue, but I still struggle with moving too fast within scenes and sort of how to describe everything that is around the team.  I also find myself struggling with organizing my thoughts on these little adventures, but I love how my mind moves and turns down different roads along the way.

It feels really good to be writing new and creative stuff again!  I think it opened me up a little bit to be able to focus on future works, like Path of The Chosen.  I have been thinking about how I want to start the third book in the series, as there will be a decent time jump of a few weeks between the two.  So, what happens in that time?  How do I set that up?

A prologue!

It’s not an overly long or in-depth prologue, but it sets the tone for what is about to happen and gives little bits of information about what to expect in the upcoming chapters.  Additionally, as I was writing it, I started to imagine what was going to happen to the character who was at the forefront of the prologue, the evil – but in his own way – Elder Albion.  An aging squirrel that is straining to have his vision of the Valley progressed and cemented in history.  But is this strain becoming too much for him?  Will he be there to meet the hero at the end of the story?  Or will he meet a death according to age?  To stress?  To greed?  I am still not sure, but I can see the squirrel’s path darken as I type.

So what is coming next week?

As I write this my wife and I are discovering we know less and less about grammar, punctuation, and how to correctly write.  Thank god there are tools that can help us with this, as I about had a heart attack with some of the changes to the 700+ pages I have written so far for books one and two of PoTC.  Next week we will work on that, editing and structuring, and I plan on writing more and more, potentially starting book three if I can get my Away Team schedule set up.  Right now I am halfway through an issue and I would like to end each week having completed an issue.  I also need to start working on my voice as I work on trying to put the words into sounds.  I still plan on releasing Away Team as an audio-type form of entertainment, and I would like to do that by the end of September.

That’s about it for this week, thanks for reading (I see the numbers, I know no one is, but I continue on!)

Cheers,

Dane
